PROVIDENCE, R.I. --- UConn sophomore Jimmy Hervol (Hopkinton, Mass.), who has started the season with three Top 10 finishes in the Huskies' first four tournaments, including an individual tournament victory, has been named the American Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for September.

Hervol began the 2016-17 season with the first win of his college career, topping the field in the Doc Gimmler Invitational with an 11-under par 199 at the Red Course at Bethpage State Park. Hervol had three sub-70 rounds on his way to the career-low tourney total, including two career-low 65s.

Hervol finished September with a Top 10 finish at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational in Valentine, Neb. Hervol shot a 1-under 215, which included another sub-70 round. He finished the month as the Huskies' scoring leader (70.0).

Hervol has begun October in the same fashion, earning a Top 10 finish with a 3-over 213 in the Macdonald Cup on The Course at Yale, featuring still another sub-70 round.

Hervol and his UConn teammates return to action on Oct. 10-11, when they are the host team for the eighth annual Connecticut Cup at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Conn.
