NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 5, 2008)-- Sophomore Matt Dubrowski (Bergenfield, N.J.) shot a 73 Sunday to finish in a tie for 12th place overall and helped the University of Connecticut golf team to an eighth place finish at the MacDonald Cup, hosted by Yale University at the Yale Golf Course.
The University of Oklahoma captured the team title with a three-round total of 860, outdistancing the host Bulldogs by eight shots. Jason Thresher of Bryant University captured the individual medalist honors by shooting a 69 Sunday and taking a two-shot victory over Liam Logan of Oklahoma.
Dubrowski shot 72-74-73 for a 219 total and his spot tied for 12th. Freshmen Matt Carroll (Heathrow, Fla.) and Jeb Buchanan (Loudonville, N.Y.) both made a respectable showing in their first collegiate action, shooting 226 and 227 to finish tied for 29th and tied for 34th, respectively.
The Huskies return to action on October 18-20 at the New England Championship to be held at the Captain's Course in Brewster, Mass.
