Golf Finishes 13th at Columbia Invitational

GALLOWAY, N.J. (October 26, 2008)-- The University of Connecticut golf team finished in 13th place at the 2008 Columbia Invitational at Galloway National Golf Club. The event concludes the fall season for the Huskies.

Texas Christian captured the team title with a nine-shot victory over the University of Florida, 894-903. UConn finished with a three-round total of 963 to stand in 13th place overall. Tim McKenney of Florida and Tom Hoge of TCU tied for the individual medalist honors with an eight-over par score of 221.

Freshman Brian Hwang (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was the top finisher for the Huskies, shooting a three-round score of 235, which included a 72 on Friday. Freshman Matt Carroll (Heathrow, Fla) shot a 238 for the weekend and finished tied for 40th place. Freshman Adam Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) finished in 62nd place, freshman Jeb Buchanan (Loudonville, N.Y.) tied for 66th place and sophomore Matt Dubrowski (Bergenfield, N.J.) was tied for 68th. Sophomore Chris DeLucia (Norwich, Conn.) competed as an individual and finished in 79th place.
