STORRS, Conn. --- UConn men’s golf coach Dave Pezzino announced today that the program has received a National Letter of Intent from Nick Hampoian of North Reading, Mass. Hampoian, who attends Austin Prep in Reading, will enroll at UConn as a freshman in the fall of 2018.
Hampoian will come to Storrs with impressive golf credentials he earned throughout high school, where he was a five-year player on the golf team under coaches Paul Mayo and Doreen Fuller.
He is a three-time MVP of the Central Catholic League, was the 2016 Division 3 individual state champion, the 2017 Division 3 North Section champion and a two-time CCL individual champion. In his senior season, he led Austin Prep to a third-place finish in Division 3 and he finished fifth individually.
Hampoian also played lacrosse in high school at Austin Prep and was named a CCL First Team All-Star.
Outside of high school, Hampoian won the 2015 Massachusetts Junior Championship, he finished in the top 25 in the New England Amateur, and was a member of Team New Hampshire three years in a row.
Hampoian plays out the Golf Club of New England (Stratham, N.H.) and works with swing coach Marc Spencer.
