Top Line Leads UConn Past Holy Cross, 4-1

WORCESTER, Mass. - Behind two goals from the top line of Brant Harris, Billy Latta and Jordan Sims, the UConn men's hockey team won at Holy Cross, 4-1. The Huskies improved to 14-13-3 (11-10-2 AHA).

Senior goaltender Matt Grogan stopped 42 shots to earn the victory. Holy Cross dropped to 15-11-2 (11-8-2 AHA). Connecticut and Holy Cross are tied for fourth in the AHA standings with 24 points.

Connecticut fell on Friday to Holy Cross, 4-1.

On Saturday night, Harris tallied his team-leading 10th goal of the season at 2:54 of the first period with assists going to linemates Jordan Sims and Billy Latta. Sims and Latta earned their eighth and 15th assists on the season, respectively.

Latta buried the game-winning goal at 12:37 of the second period on the power play. The goal was his fifth of the season. Latta took passes from Harris and Sims. The UConn power play has scored in six of the last seven games.

Connecticut went into the third period ahead 2-0. UConn is now undefeated at 10-0-0 when heading into the second period with a lead.

Holy Cross cut the deficit to 2-1 with a power play goal from Brandon Nunn at 10:45.

The Huskies responded with Brad Smith's third goal of the season at 14:59. Freshman Patrick Kirtland added an empty netter at 19:46, his fourth goal of the year.



UConn will travel to West Point, N.Y. for a two-game set beginning on Friday, February 22 at 7:05 p.m. UConn and Army tied 2-2 earlier this season.
