WEST POINT, N.Y. - The University of Connecticut men's ice hockey team traded punches with the United States Military Academy early on until UConn pulled ahead for a 6-3 win in Atlantic Hockey action at Tate Rink on Saturday night.  The Huskies lifted their record to 16-13-3 overall and 13-10-2 in league play, while the Black Knights dropped to 7-17-5 and 7-12-5 as Connecticut swept the weekend series.

UConn scored just 3:07 into the game on a power play when senior Sean Ambrosie (Moorhead, Minn.) netted his eighth of the season, assisted by junior Brant Harris (Estevan, Sask.) and xxx Billy Latta (West Chester, Pa.).  The Huskies doubled their lead just over a minute later as sophomore Brad Smith (Trenton, Mich.) found the back of the net.

In the second period, Army had answers on the offensive end to counter Connecticut as Maurice Alvarez and Christian Pomarico scored less than two minutes apart before the six-minute mark of the period to tie the game.

The Huskies regained the lead 28 seconds after the Black Knights knotted things up as Latta punched in his sixth of the year, but once again Army had an answer.  The Black Knights scored the game's third goal in 1:07 when John Clark lit the lamp to tie the game, 3-3.

Ambrosie netted his second of the contest at the 8:08 mark, again on the power play and again assisted by Harris, which would hold up as the game-winner.  Harris added a power play score in the third and junior Jordan Sims (Fort Wayne, Ind.) tacked on an empty netter in the final minute.

Between the pipes, senior Matt Grogan (Gilbert, Ariz.) made 30 saves, while Ryan Leets made 24 for Army.  For the second straight night the Huskies were outshot by the Black Knights; this time 33-30.

Connecticut defeated Army, 4-3, on Friday night and entered play on Saturday tied for fifth place in the league with Mercyhurst at 26 points.

The Huskies return to action for the regular season home finale against Sacred Heart on Friday, March 1 at 1:00 pm.
