WALTHAM, Mass. - The University of Connecticut men's hockey team fell at Bentley, 3-1, on Saturday night in Waltham, Mass. The Huskies dropped their overall record to 2-5-1 (1-4-0 AHA). Seam Ambrosie notched his third goal of the season and Garrett Bartus finished with 19 saves.
Bentley improved to 5-4-0 (4-2-0 AHA). Bentley netminder Branden Komm finished with 28 saves to earn the victory. Brett Gensler, the nation's leading scorer, notched the game-winning goal and an empty netter and now has 17 points on the season.
UConn senior captain Sean Ambrosie scored the game's opening goal just 40 seconds into the third period.
The lead wouldn't last, however, as Bentley tallied three unanswered goals in the final 17 minutes to pull away.
Connecticut finished with a 29-22 edge in shots, outshooting Bentley in the first two periods, 23-12.
Neither team scored in the opening 40 minutes until Ambrosie gave UConn the 1-0 lead.
Bentley responded with the equalizer at 3:24 off the stick of Ben Blomquist. The Falcons made it 2-0 at 17:16 with Gensler's seventh goal of the season.
Bentley finished the scoring at 19:16 with an empty-net goal by Genlser.
The Huskies will begin a nine-game home stand on Friday, November 23 against Air Force at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs. That game begins at 4 p.m. The Huskies will then host Air Force at 3:30 p.m. at the XL Center in Hartford on Saturday.
