    Atlantic Hockey Association Release

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut senior captain Brant Harris (Estevan, Saskatchewan) was named the Travel Team USA Player of the Week by the Atlantic Hockey Association on Tuesday.  Harris nabs his first weekly award by the conference this season thanks to a five point weekend in a pair of AHA wins over RIT.

Harris scored three goals and added a pair of assists as he closes in on the 100-point plateau for his career.  In Friday night’s 2-1 win over the Tigers, Harris created a scoring chance that provided the game-winning goal.  As the Tigers tried to clear the zone, Harris caused a turnover at the blue line and quickly fire a pass sending teammate Shawn Pauly to the far post for his team-leading sixth goal and a 2-0 lead.  On Saturday, Harris recorded a hat trick and added an assist to lead the Huskies to a 6-2 win.  Harris scored in a goal in all three periods and posted a pair of power play goals to notch the first Husky hat trick in two seasons.  Harris recorded the 20th hat trick in the nation this season.  He also added an assist for a four point afternoon, matching his career high (4 pt at Army 2/23/13).  Harris will head into this week with 96 career points, coming on 47 goals and 49 assists.  He can become the 27th player in school history to accomplish the feat and the sixth on the Division I level (1998-present).

The senior captain will lead the Huskies into action against Robert Morris this week for a pair of Atlantic Hockey tilts at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum.  UConn takes the ice against the Colonials on Thursday night at 7:05 pm and on Friday at 5:05 pm.
