Hockey East Weekly Release

STORRS, Conn. - UConn freshman defenseman Adam Karashik (Ridgefield, Conn.) was named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday after helping lead the Huskies to a weekend sweep of New Hampshire.

Karashik made his return to the UConn lineup this past weekend after missing six games with a hand injury.  The rookie blue line finished the weekend with three points as UConn took all four points with a 4-2 win on the road and a 3-2 win at home.

On Friday night, Karashik helped set up the game-tying goal late in the third period, feeding senior Jesse Schwartz (Toronto, Ontario) who started the Huskies’ late game comeback.  On Saturday, Karashik had his first career multi-goal game, scoring twice, including the game-winner in the third period.

On the season, Karashik has seven points on four goals and three assists in 22 games.

Karashik and the rest of the Huskies will play host to the No. 16 Boston College Eagles this Friday night at the XL Center.
