Matt Grogan leads the conference in goals against average and save percentage.

STORRS, Conn. - It was announced late Monday that UConn senior goaltender Matt Grogan (Gilbert, Arizona) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Association Goaltender of the Week. Grogan leads the AHA with a 1.77 goals against average and a .945 save percentage. He ranks ninth in the NCAA in goals against average and fourth in the nation in save percentage.
Grogan led UConn to a 3-1 victory at RIT with 34 saves on Friday night. Prior to Friday's victory, UConn owned a 1-10 record at RIT since the Tigers joined the AHA in 2006-07. Grogan improved his overall record to 6-2-2.
On the season, UConn owns an 8-9-2 record for 18 points and sits in a three-way tie for eighth in the AHA standings with RIT and Army. Overall the Huskies have tallied an 11-12-3 record on the season.
Grogan picked up his excellent play to open February after a terrific month of January. Grogan was sensational following the new year, tallying a 2.14 goals against average and an impressive .937 save percentage in leading UConn to a 4-1-1 record in games that he started. Grogan recorded 30 or more saves in four of six games, including a career-high 48 in a 2-1 loss at No. 2 Quinnipiac.
The Huskies will face Bentley in a home-and-home series beginning on Friday at Bentley at 7:05 p.m. The two teams will finish the season series in Storrs on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are still available at UConnhuskies.com or by calling 1-877-AT-UCONN.
