STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's hockey program will play host to Army at 7:05 p.m. at the Freitas Ice Forum on Tuesday, February 7. Admission is free during the month of February for all UConn students with a valid student ID.
The Huskies enter the game at 12-13-2 (11-8-1 AHA) while Army will come to Storrs with a record of 3-15-7 (2-13-5 AHA).
With just seven games remaining in the regular season, UConn will start Tuesday night in seventh place having played one-less game than every team except Army. A win on Tuesday and UConn will move into a tie for fifth place with Robert Morris. Air Force leads the league with 29 points, followed by Mercyhurst (28) in second and RIT and Niagara tied for third with 27 points. Robert Morris has 25 points in fifth, one point ahead of Bentley (24) in sixth.
The top four teams in the standings earn a bye in the first round of the AHA Playoffs and host the best-of-three second round. Teams seeded fifth-eighth will host a best-of-three series in the first round on March 9-11.
The Huskies are looking for a season sweep over Army on Tuesday night. UConn defeated the Black Knights, 5-0, in the AHA opener on October 14. UConn went on to defeat Army, 2-0, in the opening round of the Toyota UConn Hockey Classic on December 29 in Storrs.
Connecticut has already swept Canisius, Niagara and Holy Cross this season.
UConn will host Army Tuesday, followed by home-and-home series against Sacred Heart, Bentley and AIC. The Huskies stand at 12-4-1 against the four teams since the start of the 2010-11 campaign.
