STORRS, Conn. - UConn senior Matt Grogan (Gilbert, Ariz.) was named the Atlantic Hockey Association Travel Team USA Goaltender of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.  Grogan earns his first AHA award of the season and shares this week's honor with Bentley's Matt Blomquist.

Grogan finished the week 1-1, making 89 saves, posting a 2.02 goals against and a .957 save percentage.  Grogan turned in a record breaking performance on Tuesday night to come away with a 3-2 upset win over #9 Providence.  Grogan turned away 58 of 60 shots to lead the Huskies to a 3-2 win over the Friars, the program’s first-ever win over a nationally ranked top-10 team.  Grogan set a new UConn Division I record (1998-present) with his 58 saves and tied for the second most all-time in program history.  On Friday night, Grogan made 31 saves but the Husky offense struggled in a 3-1 loss to Holy Cross.  On the season, Grogan has 10 wins, a 2.39 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.

Grogan and the Huskies will take on AHA rival Army in a home-and-home series this weekend.  Friday night will be "Senior Night" at Freitas Ice Forum as Grogan and fellow seniors Billy Latta (West Chester, Pa.), Brant Harris (Estevan, Saskatchewan) and Jordan Sims (Toronto, Ontario) will play their final regular season home game.  Opening face-off is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
