Connecticut (14-13-3, 11-10-2 AHA) is fighting for a top-four seed in the upcoming AHA playoffs and comes into the weekend in a three way tie for fourth with Holy Cross and RIT. All three teams have 24 points in the standings. Holy Cross has one game in hand against Holy Cross that will be made up on Monday, February 25. UConn went 1-2 against Holy Cross and split a two-game set with RIT.
Robert Morris (23 points), Bentley (22 points) and Canisius (22 points) are all within striking distance of fourth place as well. Mercyhurst sits in third with 26 points heading into the weekend.
The top four seeds will have a bye in the first round and host the AHA Quarterfinals.
Army (7-15-5, 7-10-5 AHA) enters Friday's game with 19 points, good for 10th in the AHA standings.
UConn previously tied Army, 2-2, on December 7 in Storrs in the first meeting of the season between the two programs. Evan Carriere scored the game-tying goal for Connecticut midway through the third period to earn a point in the standings.
Connecticut has just four regular season games remaining. Following the two-game set at Army this weekend, UConn will host Sacred Heart on Friday, March 1 at 7:05 p.m. in Storrs before finishing the regular season against the Pioneers at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. at 4 p.m.
Friday's contest will be senior day where UConn will honor the six-member senior class prior to the game.
