STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's hockey program will celebrate the careers of five seniors on Saturday night in the regular-season finale at Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs. UConn will end the regular season with a home-and-home series against AIC beginning in West Springfield, Mass. on Friday night.
Saturday's contest will be free admission to all UConn students with a student ID.
Fans can hear the action live through the UConn student radio network at WHUS.org or 91.7fm. Video coverage of the games is also available at uconnhuskies.com
Connecticut comes into the weekend at 12-17-3 (11-12-2 AHA) while AIC enters the final two games of the regular season with a record of 7-23-2 (6-17-2 AHA).
The Huskies currently sit in eighth place and in position to host the first round of the AHA playoffs. Connecticut has 24 points in the standings while Canisius sits in ninth with 21 points.
UConn needs just one point on the weekend to secure home ice for the first round. The Huskies can also clinch home ice if Canisius drops a point in its two-game series with Mercyhurst this weekend.
This season's AHA play is one of the tightest in conference history. Heading into the final weekend, teams 1-6 are mathematically in position to win the regular season title. Air Force currently leads the league with 34 points, just ahead of RIT (33), while Bentley, Mercyhurst and Niagara are all two points away with 32. Holy Cross has an outside chance of winning the league as well with 31 points heading into the final weekend.
