STORRS, Conn. - UConn sophomore Max Kalter (Highland Park, Ill.) has been selected to play for the Maccabi USA Open Men's Ice Hockey Team that will compete at the 20th World Maccabiah Games this July in Israel. Kalter just completed his second season in Storrs for the Huskies.
The team was announced on Monday by Maccabi USA Ice Hockey Co-Chairs, Steven Cohen, Devra Schorr Pulley and Philip Pulley, along with Head Coach Greg Gardner. The World Maccabiah Games will take place from July 4-18 in Israel. Maccabi USA will bring a team of 1,100-plus athletes who wil join 8,750 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.
Kalter played in all 36 games this season for the Huskies and finished with 20 points on four goals and 16 assists, career-high marks in all three categories. He was fifth on the team in scoring and finished with a +1 rating. On the defensive end, he blocked 32 shots, tops among UConn's forwards.
In his two seasons at UConn, Kalter has played in 66 games with six goals, 23 assists and 29 career points.
