2017-18 UConn Hockey Schedule
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men’s hockey program announced their 2017-18 schedule on Thursday. The Huskies will play a 24-game Hockey East slate as well as match-ups with teams from the ECAC, the Big Ten, the NCHC and Atlantic Hockey this season. UConn will play a 17-game slate on their home ice at the XL Center in downtown Hartford.
UConn hockey season ticket holders can renew their tickets for the 2017-18 season now by visiting UConnTickets.com. Tickets will go on sale to the general public during the week of July 10.
The 2017-18 season will officially get underway with a Hockey East two-game series on the road at the University of Maine on October 6 and 7. With the departure of Notre Dame from Hockey East, teams will face a 24-game conference schedule this season. In addition to Maine, the Huskies will face UMass Lowell (Nov. 17 & 18), New Hampshire (Jan. 26 & 27), Merrimack (Jan. 5 & 13), Providence (Jan. 18 & 20) and Northeastern (Nov. 28 & Feb. 9) in two-game series this season.
The Huskies are set to face Boston College, Boston University, UMass and Vermont three times this season. UConn will take on BU in a home and home series on October 20 and 21, serving as the 2017-18 home opener at the XL Center. The Huskies will welcome the Terriers back to Hartford again for a February 16 match-up.
UConn plays host to Vermont for a two-game series in Hartford on November 3 and 4 and then travels to Burlington just before Thanksgiving for a Tuesday night match-up November 21. The Huskies will head to Chestnut hill to face BC on November 7 and December 30 and welcome the Eagles to the XL Center on February 2.
The month of December opens with a home-and-home set with UMass and the Huskies will close the regular season facing the Minutemen at home on February 22.
The non-conference schedule is a 10-game slate highlighted with a home two-game series with Ohio State and a road series at Miami. The Huskies will open non-league play with a pair of close road trips against former Atlantic Hockey foes. UConn will head to Springfield to take on AIC at the MassMutual Center on Friday, October 13 and down to Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena to face Sacred Heart on Saturday, October 14. The Huskies will host RIT the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 25 to close a three-game set against their former conference.
The Huskies will make their first-ever trip to Oxford, Ohio to take on the Red Hawks of Miami and the National Collegiate Hockey Conference on October 27 and 28. This will be the first meeting between the two schools and the fourth time the Huskies have faced a team from the NCHC (1-2-0). UConn beat St. Cloud State at last year’s Desert Hockey Classic and lost to Colorado College in 2014-15 and Omaha in 2004-05.
Last season, UConn traveled out to Columbus, Ohio and went 0-1-1 against Ohio State, an NCAA Tournament participant last March. The Buckeyes will make the return trip to Hartford this season and visit the XL Center on Nov. 10 and 11.
UConn faces three ECAC opponents this season starting on December 8 when Colgate visits Hartford. The Huskies will renew their rivalry with an instate match-up with Quinnipiac at home on January 2 and close out non-conference play on February 3 when they head to Providence to take on Brown.
The postseason gets underway on with the Hockey East Opening Round best of three series the weekend of March 2-4. The Hockey East Championship will return to the TD Garden in Boston on March 16 and 17.
