    STORRS, Conn. - UConn men's hockey head coach Bruce Marshall announced the 2011-12 schedule and the Huskies will face three teams that participated in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. UConn will also host 16 games in Storrs, including the 19th annual Toyota UConn Hockey Classic from on Dec. 29 and 30.

    Along with 27 games against teams from the Atlantic Hockey Association, UConn will play eight games against teams from the ECAC, Hockey East and the CCHA. The Huskies have also scheduled an exhibition against Ryerson University of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport league on Sat., Oct. 1.

    Connecticut will open the season with 10 of the first 13 games of the season on the road, beginning with a pair against Bowling Green of the CCHA on Oct. 7 and 8. The Huskies then open conference action at Army on Oct. 14. UConn went 2-1 against Army in 2010-11 en route to a 13-12-2 record in the AHA. UConn will mix another nonconference game in against UMass Lowell on Oct. 18 in Lowell, Mass.

    The Huskies will host the first game of the season in Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum on Friday, Oct. 21 against Sacred Heart before traveling to face Hockey East's Merrimack, the first of three NCAA Tournament participants, on Saturday, Oct. 22.

    UConn returns home for two AHA contests against Holy Cross (Oct. 27) and Army (Oct. 29) before the longest road trip of the season which sees Connecticut away from Storrs for six-straight games. UConn opens the trip at Mercyhurst on Nov. 4 and 5. The Huskies will then play at AIC before starting a string of three straight games against NCAA Tournament participants. Connecticut plays at Yale on Nov. 19 and at Air Force on Nov. 25 and 26. Yale defeated Air Force in the opening game of the NCAA East Regional.

    The Huskies first home stand begins with two games against AHA Regular Season Champions RIT on Dec. 2 and 3, followed by a visit from Bentley on Dec. 9 before the holiday break.

     

     

    Connecticut will conclude the winter break with the 19th annual Toyota UConn Hockey Classic on Dec. 29 and 30. RPI, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament out of the ECAC, will open the classic against UMass Lowell of Hockey East at 4 p.m. UConn faces AHA foe Army at 7:15. The consolation game begins on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. with the championship taking place at 7:15 p.m. UConn advanced to the championship in 2010 but suffered a 4-1 defeat to Princeton.

    The Huskies will play a pair at home against Niagara (Jan. 6/7), at Canisius (Jan. 14/15) and at home against Robert Morris (Jan 20/21). Connecticut then completes a home-and-home with Holy Cross (Jan. 27/28) before concluding the nonconference action with a rematch of the 2010 Toyota Hockey Classic at Princeton on Jan. 31 and a road game at UMass Lowell (Feb. 4).

    UConn wraps up the regular season with home-and-homes against Sacred Heart (Feb. 10/11), Bentley (Feb. 17/18) and AIC (Feb. 24/25). The AHA Playoffs begin Mar. 2 with the AHA First Round at campus sites followed by the AHA Quarterfinals at home sites beginning on Mar. 9. Both series will be a best-of-three format.

    The AHA Semifinals and Finals take place at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. on Mar. 16 and 17. UConn advanced to the AHA Semifinals last season for the first time since 2006-07. The Huskies earned a bye into the AHA Quarterfinals and defeated Mercyhurst in a three-game set, 2-0. UConn eventually fell to RIT in the semifinals, 4-2.

    - Connecticut will play 27 league contests and eight games against teams outside of the Atlantic Hockey Association.
    - UConn will battle through a six game road swing (Nov. 4 - Nov. 26) before hosting seven-straight games in Storrs (Dec. 2 - Jan. 7).
