This year’s edition of The Travelers Championship is underway this week and Wednesday was the Celebrity Pro-Am. The Travelers is Connecticut’s annual stop on the PGA Tour and is part of the FedEx Series.
UConn had a strong presence in Wednesday’s Pro-Am at the TPC River Highlands.
UConn head men’s basketball coach Kevin Ollie, men’s ice hockey coach Mike Cavanaugh and associate head women’s basketball coach Chris Dailey played in a foursome with PGA pro J.J. Henry, a native of Trumbull, Conn.
Former UConn men’s basketball coach and Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun played with PGA pro Freddie Jacobson, singer Javier Colon and celebrity chef Ming Tsai.
Former UConn men’s basketball star and NBA great Ray Allen played with PGA pro John Senden, Ken Casey of the musical group Dropkick Murphy’s and Nick Bonino of the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.
