STORRS, Conn. - UConn freshman Tage Thompson (Orange, Conn.) has been selected to play in the fourth annual CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game on September 21st. Thompson is one of 42 players selected for this year's game being held at the First Niagara Center, home of the Buffalo Sabers.
The CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game assembles the top U.S. players who are eligible for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. Following last year's game, 26 players that participated in the contest went on to be chosen in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, including seven first-round selections. Players selected to compete were chosen by USA Hockey in conjunction with NHL Central Scouting.
Thompson is one of eight new incoming Huskies for the 2015-16 season. He skated for the U.S. National U18 team as part of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) last season. He played in 64 games, recording 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists and helped lead his team to a gold medal at the IIHF U18 World Championship in Switzerland. He also recorded seven goals and seven assists over 25 USHL games last season.
He will make his UConn debut this season when the Huskies 2015-16 with a two-game series at Alabama Huntsville on October 9th and 10th. For your first look at the Huskies this season, come out to the Freitas Ice Forum on Saturday, October 3rd as UConn hosts Queens University in an exhibition game.
