UConn Hockey Returns to Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena

STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut and Webster Bank Arena announced that the Huskies will host a regular season Hockey East game at the in Bridgeport, Conn. arena this January.  In a precursor to their match-up at Frozen Fenway, the Huskies will play host to the Maine Black Bears on Thursday, January 12th at 7:05 pm at the “Park City” arena.

“We are very excited to bring UConn hockey back to Webster Bank Arena and especially Fairfield County,” stated UConn head coach Mike Cavanaugh. “I think it’s great for UConn fans in southern Connecticut and our Stamford Campus Husky family to get the chance to catch Hockey East action in their own backyards.  I’m looking forward to seeing a packed house of Husky fans on January 12th.”

Tickets will be go on sale to the public on Wednesday, October 19th and will be available at the Webster Bank Arena box office and through TicketMaster.  Fans can purchase online at or by calling 1-800-745-3000.  The base price for tickets starts at $15 for adults, $10 for youth and $7 for groups of 15 or more.

Similar to UConn home games at the XL Center, the first 500 UConn students will receive free admission to the game.

The Huskies are no stranger to Webster Bank Arena, playing five times in 2014-15.  UConn had signature wins over then No. 14 ranked Quinnipiac, 4-1, and then defending National Champion Union, 3-2, in 2014-15.

Webster Bank Arena has been home to the New York Islanders’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, since the team’s inception in 2001. In fact, 12 players on the Islanders’ current roster have previously played with Bridgeport.
