STORRS, Conn. - UConn freshman Adam Huska (Zvolen, Slovakia) as named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week announced by the league office Monday afternoon. It is the first weekly honor for Huska.
The freshman goaltender helped lead the Huskies to a 4-2 road win over then No. 7/6 rankd Notre Dame last week. Huska turned away a 47 shots in just his third appearance, including 21 saves in the second period, en route to his first collegiate victory between the pipes.
Huska enters this week ranking third in Hockey East and 10th nationally with a .938 save percentage. He also owns a 2.59 goals against average.
The Huskies will be back on the road this Friday night, heading up to Amherst, Mass. to take on the UMass Minutemen.
