STORRS, Conn. - UConn freshman goaltender Adam Huska (Zvolen, Slovakia) was named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week announced by the league office on Monday. Huska earns his first rookie award of the season and adds it to his Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week award he earned earlier in the year.
Huska backstopped the Huskies to a 4-0 shutout on the road at No. 5/4 ranked Boston University on Saturday night, giving UConn its first win at Agganis Arena and a season split with the Terriers. Huska stopped all 37 shots he faced on Saturday night to record the first shutout of his collegiate career. In six of the seven games he has started this season, Huska has made 30 or more saves for the Huskies.
The rookie netminder in second in Hockey East in save percentage at .930, a mark that ranks him 11th among NCAA leaders. Huska is ninth in the league with a 2.60 goals against average.
The Huskies are back in action on Tuesday night when they welcome the No. 4/3 ranked Boston College Eagles to the XL Center.
