STORRS, Conn. - UConn junior defenseman Alex Gerke (Tomah, Wis.) has been named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month, as announced by the league offices on Wednesday. Gerke finished the month with a team-high nine points on four goals and five assists.

The junior defenseman had a career night in UConn's 8-3 victory over Sacred Heart on November 16, earning him AHA Player of the Week honors the following Monday. Gerke notched his first career hat trick with all three goals coming on the power play, including the game winner. He also added two assists for a five-point night.

The Huskies went 5-for-5 on the power play that night, becoming the first team in at least three seasons to record the feat. He went on to notch the first short-handed goal of his career against Air Force to end the month. Gerke led all UConn skaters with a plus-five in the month of November.

Connecticut stands at 4-7-2 with a 3-4-1 mark in AHA action. UConn currently ranks second in the nation on the power play with a 27.8-conversion rate.

UConn will host Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday and Saturday with both games to begin at 7:05 p.m. The Huskies have lost to RIT in the AHA playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
