AS A SENIOR (2013): Played and started in 22 of UConn's 23 games... Saw 2,031 minutes of action... Part of a defense that recorded 12 shutouts on the year... Named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 16) after leading a UConn defense that gave up only three shots on goal and one goal in two games combined against Washington (Sept. 10) and Bradley (Sept. 14).

AS A JUNIOR (2012): Played in 20 games for the Huskies starting 16...Totaled 1489 minutes of playing time on the season...Was a crucial part of the Husky defense that tallied 12 shut outs...had 2 shots against Washington (Sept. 7).

AS A SOPHOMORE (2011): Started all 25 games, playing every minute... Helped anchor a defense that set a Connecticut record with 16 shutouts.

PRIOR TO UCONN: Mercado most recently competed with Mt. San Antonio Junior College in Walnut, Calif... Mercado led the Mounties to the 2010 State JUCO Championship and a 19-1-4 overall record... Mt. SAC ended the 2010 season ranked No. 3 in the final NSCAA Performance Subaru Junior College National Rankings... He went on to be named First Team All-South Coast Conference...
