NEW YORK, N.Y. - UConn men's soccer sophomore forward Cyle Larin has agreed to a Generation adidas deal with the Major League Soccer, as announced by the league on Thursday. The Brampton, Ontario native is now eligible for the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, set to take place on Jan. 15 in Philadelphia.

The UConn standout headlines this year's group of five men's college soccer underclassmen that can be selected by an MLS team later this month. Generation adidas signings do not count against an MLS team's salary budget, and those part of the program are able to receive grants to further their college education. Last season, former Connecticut goalkeeper Andre Blake signed a Generation adidas deal before becoming the first goalkeeper and second UConn player overall to be selected with the No. 1 pick in the MLS Draft.

Larin, who is currently competing with the Canadian U-20 team in the CONCACAF Championships in Jamaica, is projected to be a top-three pick in this year's SuperDraft. UConn seniors Adria Beso Marco (Lleida, Spain) and Sergio Campbell (Clarendon, Jamaica) are also expected to be chosen in the draft, as they look to join the 32 Huskies that have been drafted by MLS teams throughout the tenure of current men's soccer coach Ray Reid.

"Cyle has tremendous potential," Reid said. "He is a great young man who will be missed at UConn."

Larin appeared in 39 games for Connecticut, totaling 52 points on 23 goals and six assists. He was named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year in 2013 after finishing the season with a conference-best 22 goals, and he earned Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors this past fall. He was tabbed as a MAC Hermann Watch List honoree prior to his sophomore season, and his 0.56 goals per game this season ranked first in the conference and 21st among Division I players.

The Connecticut striker tallied at least two goals in a match three times throughout his collegiate career, including UConn's NCAA Tournament game against top-overall seed UCLA in 2013 and the Huskies' 5-0 win over Temple in the American Athletic Quarterfinals against Temple this past season. Connecticut became the only Division I school to reach three straight NCAA Quarterfinals in his freshman year, and the Huskies won their 13th-ever regular season conference title in his sophomore campaign.

Prior to the SuperDraft, the MLS will hold its annual adidas MLS Player Combine this week (Jan. 8-13) in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Beso Marco and Campbell are among the 55 NCAA Division I seniors that have been invited to participate in the event. Larin will be with the Canadian U-20 team, as they face Haiti (Jan. 10), Mexico (Jan. 12), El Salvador (Jan. 15), Cuba (Jan. 19) and Honduras (Jan. 22) in hopes of securing a berth in the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
