STORRS, Conn. -- The UConn men's soccer team's spring match against former Big East foe St. John's this Friday (Apr. 10) has been moved to Veterans Memorial Stadium in New Britain, as announced by head coach Ray Reid on Monday. The game will still be played at 7 p.m., and the Pre-Game Youth Clinic will still take place a 5 p.m. at the site of the match.
The Huskies and Red Storm were originally set to play at Bristol Eastern High School, but the game was moved to New Britain following poor field conditions. Friday will mark the third match this month for the UConn, which boasts a mark of 1-0-1 this spring after defeating Bridgeport (Apr. 1) and earning a draw with Rutgers this past weekend (Apr. 4).
Connecticut sports an all-time record of 13-13-6 against St. John's in regular season and postseason play in a series that dates back to 1981. The two combined for 16 Big East Tournament Championships, with UConn claiming seven of the titles. Connecticut's 32 wins in Big East Tournament play ranked second just behind St. John's, who tallied 33 victories.
After Friday, the Huskies will round out their spring slate with matches against the University of Hartford (Apr. 15) and Sienna College (Apr. 18). UConn will also host two more clinics, as it will hold one prior to the Sienna College match at 5 p.m. before its final ProHealth Clinic takes place on Thursday, Apr. 23 at the Wallingford Vietnam Memorial Park at 6:30 p.m. Click HERE for more information on UConn's Spring Schedule.
