STORRS, Conn. - Mamadou is a senior economics major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. A native of Senegal, Mamadou joined the UConn Husky family as a freshman in the Fall of 2010 being named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie team after scoring six goals and having one assist.

In his sophomore year, Mamadou was named to the All Big East First Team and the BIG EAST All-Tournament team after having been names to the National Team of the Week (Nov 20th) and BIG EAST Player of the Week during the season. As a junior this past season Mamadou continued to add to his accolades. Throughout the course of the season Mamadou was also recognized by College Soccer News as a member of the National Team of the week and he was named to the Big East Honor Roll the week of 9/17. Mamadou first came to the US in the fall of 2009 to attend the Avon Old Farms School and has been separated from his family until this past winter break when he was finally able to return to Dakar to see his loved ones.

Since his initial enrollment in 2010, Mamadou has been dedicated to learning and growing as a person, student and soccer player. He is looking forward to earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in December (in just 3 ½ years) and potentially beginning a professional soccer career. It is with much pride we are able to recognize Mamadou Diouf on National Student-Athlete Day.
