STORRS, Conn. – With less than 10 weeks until the 2016 season begins, incoming Husky goalkeeper Detre Bell has been selected to the 2015-16 American Family Insurance All-USA Boys Soccer Team, as announced by the USA Today on Wednesday.
Members of the team were named to the team based on performance, level of competition and strength of schedule.
Bell, the lone selection from the state of Connecticut, is set to join the Husky squad after recording 14 shutouts as a senior at South Kent School. The keeper allowed just three goals throughout the entire season, propelling the team to a New England Prep Class B title.
“We’re happy for Detre to receive this impressive honor,” said Husky head coach Ray Reid. “We’re excited to get Detre into our program this fall and looking forward to getting to work this summer.”
In addition to his experience at South Kent, Bell is the starting keeper for the Bermuda U-20 Men’s National Team and has made an appearance with the full national team.
Earlier in June, Reid announced the team’s 18-match 2016 schedule. For a complete look at the fall slate, please CLICK HERE.
