July 16, 2015

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut men's soccer coach Ray Reid announced multiple coaching moves on Thursday, three weeks ahead of the start of the team's preseason activities. Andy Parker has been named as an assistant coach, while John Donlon will now serve as the Director of Soccer Quality Control.

Parker, who was the Director of Soccer Quality Control for the Huskies over the last two seasons, arrived in Storrs after graduating from Saint Anselm in 2012. He was a four-year letter winner in soccer while playing for the Hawks and he left the program as the all-time leader in minutes played. Parker earned Northeast-10 All-Rookie honors in 2008 and was named a Senior Scholar-Athlete for the 2011-12 season.

He currently works as the Northeast United Developmental Academy Program Director and serves as the coach of the U-11 team. This past semester, Parker earned his Master's Degree in Sport Management from UConn.

The East Haddam, Conn. native will take over for Mike Mordocco, who recently accepted an assistant coaching position at UMass. Mordocco, a member of the 2000 UConn Men's Soccer National Champion Team, spent four seasons on the bench at Connecticut from 2011-14, working primarily with the goalkeepers.

The Huskies reached the NCAA Quarterfinals in each of Mordocco's first three seasons at UConn and Connecticut captured its 13th-ever Conference regular season title in 2014. Mordocco graduated from UConn in 2002 and held coaching stints at Stony Brook and Oneonta State prior to returning to Storrs. He was one of two former players to be honored at the 2014 Meet The Huskies Banquet.

In addition to Parker's role change, Donlon was promoted to the squad's Director of Soccer Quality Control after working directly with the UConn Goal Patrol, coordinating meetings and promotions for the student support group and this past year he assisted in UConn's marketing efforts. Donlon currently serves as the Assistant Director of Coaching for Northeast United and coaches the U-11 and U-13 teams, as well as serving as the Tolland Soccer Club Technical Director.

UConn's 2015 campaign gets underway on Aug. 11 when players report for the first day of preseason. Following two preseason matches against Rider (Aug. 16) and Syracuse (Aug. 22), the Huskies will open regular season play at home against St. Francis on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
