STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut men’s soccer team, which kicks off its season Aug. 29 at home against Coastal Carolina, will host its first ever Youth Soccer Night on Aug. 19.
The event, sponsored by ProHealth Physicians, will give youth soccer players (entering 8th grade or below) around the area the chance to watch a training session of the three-time national champion UConn men’s soccer team. Gates open at the practice field behind Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at 5:30 p.m. and the first 100 kids in attendance will receive a gift from ProHealth. Each kid in attendance will get an autographed UConn soccer poster signed by the team, and every youth player will be entered into a raffle to win a soccer ball signed by each player.
Parking for the event is available at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum on the UConn campus. For more information on the event, please contact UConn Director of Soccer Administration Kevin Mellon at firstname.lastname@example.org or call him at 860-486-1243.
Connecticut’s preseason slate begins Aug. 17 at home against Quinnipiac and the Huskies’ final tuneup before their season opener is on Aug. 23 against Boston College.
