Alvarez Scores For Chivas USA

Storrs, Conn. - Two former Husky standouts, Carlos Alvarez and Tony Cascio, met on the field on Sunday night for an MLS showdown between Chivas USA and the Colorado Rapids.

The contest ended in a 1-1 draw, with three players being ejected, but Alvarez shined, picking up a goal in the sixth minute with a perfectly placed shot into the upper left of the net on an assist from Erick Torres. Alvarez now has two goals and two assists for Chivas USA, starting in 16 of the 19 games he's played in. The former Husky, who was the ninth first round selection for UConn and the 26th in program history, has taken 21 shots with five shots on goal.

Cascio has played in thirteen games this season, earning four starts and scoring a goal in 530 minutes of action. The midfielder had a great 2012 season, netting three goals and tallying three assists.

Colorado stands at 9-7-9 while the Chivas USA moves to 4-13-6.
