    OAKLAND, Calif. - The University of Connecticut men's soccer team has been ranked No. 13 in the 2009 Soccer America preseason poll as selected by its editors and announced Tuesday afternoon.

    North Carolina ranks in the top spot after finishing the 2008 season with a 15-8-1 overall record, while Akron and BIG EAST foe St. John's round out the top-three teams.

    Notre Dame was selected to fill the 10th place spot with the Huskies right behind in 13th. South Florida and Louisville were the last BIG EAST schools to make the Soccer America rankings as they were ranked 18th and 23rd, respectively.

    UConn will face four teams this season ranked in the Soccer America preseason poll, including Notre Dame, St. John's, Dartmouth (No. 14) and Boston University (No. 24).

    The Huskies will battle with Massachusetts at Morrone Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 29 in their final exhibition game before beginning regular season play at home on Wednesday, Sept. 2 against St. Peter's at 7:00 p.m.
