STORRS, Conn. –
Fresh off a pair of opening-weekend victories, the No. 14 UConn men’s soccer team returns to the pitch when it welcomes Louisville (Sept. 2) and Cornell (Sept. 5) to Joseph J. Morrone Stadium for regular-season action. The Huskies open the weekend against the Cardinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before hosting the Big Red on Monday at 7 p.m.

UConn (2-0-0) broke into the national polls on Tuesday, climbing 12 spots to No. 14 in the first edition of the NSCAA rankings. Additionally, the team checked in at No. 11 in the weekly rankings.

Fans who are unable to attend the contest can keep up with the action via a radio broadcast on, 91.7 FM or live stats.

The Huskies sport a 4-2-1 all-time mark against Louisville in a series that dates back to 2005, while the team played to a draw in its only-ever meeting with Cornell in 1995.

With a pair of wins in the season’s opening weekend, Connecticut owns a 23-5-7 record at Morrone Stadium since the start of the 2013 campaign. Over its last seven matches at home, dating back to Oct. 17, 2015, UConn has out-scored its opponents, 17-to-4, and has posted three shutouts.

After opening the season with a pair of convincing wins over Iona and Omaha, standouts Abdou Mbacke Thiam and Niko Petridis were honored by The American on Monday. Thiam, who registered five points on two goals and an assist, was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Petridis picked up Rookie of the Week honors after scoring in the 85th minute against Omaha.

The first 500 students to attend the Goal Patrol meeting (Gate 3) on Friday before the Louisville match will receive a free t-shirt.
