KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Following an opening weekend of upsets, the Huskies have moved up in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire National Rankings, which were released Tuesday.

Connecticut now sits at No. 3 in the poll after the top three teams in the preseason poll Indiana, Georgetown and Maryland all suffered their first losses of the season.

North Carolina holds the top spot in the poll followed by Creighton, who started the season ranked No. 6.

UConn is currently the No. 1 team in both the Soccer America and polls after defeating Saint Francis (NY) 1-0 in its season opener last Friday at Morrone Stadium.

Louisville is the other American Athletic Conference member ranked in the NSCAA poll this week. The Cardinals, who host Connecticut October 19th, are ranked No. 7 after starting the season out at No. 10.

Last season Connecticut was ranked as high as No. 2 in the NSCAA poll before losing to then No. 9 Marquette last October.

The Huskies return to action this Friday when they host Boston University at Morrone Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
