STORRS, Conn. - Connecticut men's soccer senior defender Max Wasserman (Farmington, Conn.) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after registering a game-winning goal and guiding UConn to a 2-0-1 record this past week. Wasserman has a goal and two assists on the season.

Live on Fox Soccer Channel on Friday night, Wasserman led Connecticut to the 1-0 victory in overtime with a free-kick goal from 23 yards out. It was Wasserman's third game-winning goal via a free kick in the last two seasons.

On Monday, September 3 against Michigan State, Wasserman assisted on the game-winning goal. That was his second assist in as many games after assisting on the game's opening goal in a 2-1 victory over Dartmouth on August 31.

The Huskies, ranked No. 4 in the NSCAA poll and Soccer America rankings, respectively, finished the week 2-0-1 with wins over Michigan State and Washington. Connecticut tied Boston University on Sunday night, 1-1.

The UConn defense has been excellent in the opening five games having allowed just two goals and recording three shutouts. Wasserman has joined with classmate Jossimar Sanchez, junior Michael Mercado and sophomore Sergio Campbell to form one of the strongest back lines in the BIG EAST Conference.

UConn will be in action next with a road match at Harvard beginning at 4 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass. That game can be heard live on, 91.7 fm.
