PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Two Huskies earned American Athletic Conference weekly honors as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. Freshman midfielder Ethan Decker was named Rookie of the Week, while senior midfielder George Fochive earned a spot on the American's Honor Roll.
Decker scored his first goal as a Husky Saturday night at Morrone Stadium in No. 12 Connecticut's 2-1 victory over No. 10 Saint Louis. The goal came off of a free kick early in the second half, as Decker scored from 25 yards away, curling a ball over a wall of defenders and into the net.
Fochive found a spot on the Honor Roll for the second time this season after helping the Huskies hold Saint Louis to just four shots the entire night. The Billikens came into the match averaging 16.8 shots a game. Connecticut's defense has been brilliant, and both the Huskies and Temple lead the American in fewest goals allowed this year, with each team only giving up three goals this season.
UConn returns to action this Friday, when the Huskies travel to Corbett Soccer Stadium to take on South Florida. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
