STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut men's soccer All-American Carlos Alvarez (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after notching two goals and two assists in victories over Boston College and No. 13 St. John's.

Alvarez tallied an assist in UConn's 2-0 victory against BC on Tuesday in Storrs. UConn's senior captain then notched two goals and an assist in Connecticut's 3-0 victory over rival St. John's in the BIG EAST opener Saturday night in front of 5,100 fans at Morrone Stadium.

Alvarez has led UConn to a 7-0-1 record and a No. 2 national ranking with four goals and three assists for 11 points. With 36 assists in his career, Alvarez now ranks tied for No. 4 all-time at Connecticut with Joseph Morrone (1977-80). He currently ranks No. 15 all-time at UConn with 70 points as well.

A NSCAA Second Team All-American in 2011, Alvarez earned a spot on the 2012 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and was named a Soccer America Preseason All-American. He was also named to the BIG EAST Preseason Team.
