STORRS, Conn. - Following a week of rest, the No. 18 UConn men's soccer team carries a five-match winning streak into an American Athletic Conference tilt with Cincinnati on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. The match will be broadcasted on, 91.7 FM.

Thiam Tallies In UConn's 1-1 Draw with Cincinnati on Wednesday
Freshman forward Abdou Mbacke Thiam tallied his team-leading third goal of the season as the UConn men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime with conference foe Cincinnati on Wednesday at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.

UConn (8-3-0) is coming off a 1-0 road victory at Tulsa on Oct. 1 after redshirt-junior Andrew Geres (Portland, Conn.) tallied his third goal of the 2016 season to propel the squad to its season-best fifth-straight victory. Redshirt-junior keeper Scott Levene (Stamford, Conn.) turned in his third-straight and fifth overall shutout of 2016, making five saves and also stopped a penalty attempt in the 86th minute.

The Huskies own a 2-2-3 all-time record against Cincinnati in a series that dates back to 1999. The two programs met once in 2015, playing to a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Morrone Stadium. The Huskies' last win over the Bearcats came in 2013 when the squad handed its conference foe a 1-0 defeat.

Through 11 matches, Connecticut ranks 20th in the nation with a 0.63 team goals against average and also checks in at No. 34 with a 0.45 shutout percentage. Individually, senior midfielder Kwame Awuah (Toronto, Ont.) is seventh among qualified players with six assists and Abdou Mbacke Thiam (Dakar, Senegal) is 12th with 1.78 points per match.
