PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Two days after leading the UConn men’s soccer team to a dominant 5-0 victory over Cincinnati, senior tri-captain Kwame Awuah (Toronto, Ont.) has been selected as the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. Additionally, freshman Niko Petridis (Norwalk, Conn.) earned a spot on the league’s weekly honor roll.
UConn cruised to its six-straight win on Saturday night at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium, led by a pair of goals from Awuah. The Huskies have outscored opponents, 15-to-2, over their current winning streak and have posted four shutouts in-a-row.
Through 12 matches in 2016, Awuah ranks ninth in the nation with six total assists and also is sixth in The American with 10 total points on the offensive end of the pitch.
Petridis earns honor roll honors after registering an assist in the Huskies’ win over the Bearcats.
