UConn (3-4-4, 0-3-1 The American) is coming off a 1-0 setback to SMU on Saturday night at Westcott Field in Dallas. The Huskies put up 11 shots and attempted six corners but were unable to find the equalizer despite a three-save effort in net by redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Scott Levene.
Tuesday's tilt will be the seventh-ever meeting between the programs in a series that dates back to 2005. UConn holds a 4-1-1 all-time edge and played to a 2-2 draw with the Cardinals in the last matchup on Oct. 19, 2013. Down 2-1 with less than 10 minutes remaining, former Husky striker and 2015 MLS SuperDraft top pick Cyle Larin took a pass from Adria Beso Marco and finished on the near post to knot the game up and force the 2-2 draw.
Louisville enters the match with a 4-5-3 overall record and an 0-2-3 mark in ACC play. The Cardinals have squared off against five ranked teams (1-3-1) through their first 12 matches and are currently in the midst of a three-match losing streak. In 2015, Louisville owns a 4-2-2 record when playing at Lynn Stadium.
The Huskies are 3-1-3 in non-conference matchups in 2015, including wins over Harvard (Sept. 10), UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 13) and Rhode Island (Sept. 19).
UConn is 1-3-0 on the road this season but holds a 17-12-7 regular season record away from Morrone Stadium since the start of the 2011 campaign.
