    STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut men’s soccer team is set to travel to Louisville, Ky.  to take on the No. 7 ranked Louisville Cardinals on Saturday, October 19th at 7:00 p.m.  The match will be broadcasted live on NSCAATV.com as part of the of a new online media property launched by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America to promote the collegiate soccer game. The game can also be heard live on WHUS.org, 91.7 fm.

    Connecticut (6-2-4) enters the match winners of three straight for the first time in 2013, having tallied eight goals in the last 270 minutes of game action. Junior forward Allando Matheson has scored five goals in his last four matches, helping to propel the Husky offense. All-American goalkeeper Andre Blake returned to the Huskies lineup on Tuesday against Columbia, posting his 30th career shutout and earning his 40th career win for UConn.

    Junior center back Sergio Campbell was named the American Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for his work in the Huskies’ shutouts of Rutgers and Memphis.

    The Cardinals (9-2-1) have won nine games in 2013, and have scored 16 of their 23 goals in the second half. Sophomore Ricardo Velazco leads the offense attack for Louisville, scoring a team-high five goals and registering six assists this season. Keeper Joachim Ball has started all 12 matches for the Cardinals, allowing just six goals and making 27 saves.

    The match will feature a battle of the top two teams in the American Athletic Conference, as Louisville (4-0-0 The American) has earned 12 points while Connecticut (2-0-3 The American) sits at nine points.


     

     

    The Huskies are 1-0-1 against top-10 ranked teams this season, having defeated then-ranked No. 10 Saint Louis, 2-1, on September 21st and forcing a 1-1 draw with then-ranked No. 10 Washington on September 10th.
