STORRS, Conn. – The 2016 UConn Men’s Soccer Elite Clinics are set to take place on Jan. 3 and 9 at the Mark R. Shenkman Training Center located on the Storrs campus. The clinics will feature three separate training sessions for all players in grades 9-12 and Junior College athletes.
Two sessions will be offered for field players in addition to another goalkeeper specific session. The first clinic will run from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3 with registration beginning at 10 a.m. in the Shenkman Training Center. The goalkeeper session kicks off later that day, taking place from 2-3:30 p.m. Registration for the event starts 1 p.m.
The final clinic will be a week later on Saturday, Jan. 9. from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Registration will once again be at 10 a.m. The cost is $65 for each session or $115 for those planning on attending two.
The UConn coaching staff and world class players will lead the training sessions for players throughout the region grades 9-12. The clinics will include training, games and instructions during each of the sessions. Cleats or turf shoes are recommended for optimal performance, and no metal studs will be allowed during training. Players are also required to wear shin guards.
The UConn men’s soccer program is one of the most dominant in the country with three national championships in its storied history.
