    STORRS, Conn. - The No. 14 University of Connecticut men's soccer team's American Athletic Conference Quarterfinal match against SMU has been set for a 5 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, November 9 at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. Connecticut (9-2-5, 4-0-4 The American) enters the match on a season-high 11 game unbeaten streak, finishing off the regular season with a 1-0 victory over the Mustangs at Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas. The match can be heard live on WHUS.org and 91.7 fm.

    The Huskies earned the No. 2 seed in the conference behind Louisville, tallying 16 total points and finishing the year as the only team without a conference loss. During conference play, UConn out-scored its opponents 12-6 and recorded four shutouts. Junior goalkeeper Andre Blake has been brilliant in his return, making nine saves and posting four shutouts in his last five matches.

    The Connecticut offense has been led by freshman Cyle Larin, who has totaled 18 points on eight goals in his first season in Storrs. The defending Rookie of the Week has found the back of the net in five of UConn's last six matches. Currently, the Brampton, Ontario native ranks second in the conference in goals and third in total points. Overall, Connecticut's offense finished first in The American with 15.31 shots per game and second with a 1.31 goals per game average.

    Including last Saturday's 1-0 victory, Connecticut holds a 4-1 all-time record against the Mustangs, dating back to the teams' first meeting in 1983.

    Connecticut is searching for its eight conference tournament title and first in the newly-established American Athletic Conference. The Huskies last took home a conference tournament title in 2007, when they defeated Notre Dame, 2-0, in the BIG EAST Championship game at Morrone Stadium.


     

     

    The Huskies are well-represented in the national polls, checking in at No. 12 in TopDrawerSoccer.com's weekly poll and ranking seventh in the Soccer America poll.

    Students can pick up a free ticket to the match with a valid UConn ID at the Goal Patrol meeting, held at the Gampel Pavilion East entrance at 4 p.m. on November 9.
