STORRS, Conn. - The TopDrawerSoccer.com Top-100 upperclassmen rankings have been released and UConn is well represented with four selections, including three in the top-25. Senior Carlos Alvarez came in at No. 3, followed by junior Mamadou Doudou Diouf (15), sophomore goalkeeper Andre Blake (19) and senior Jossimar Sanchez (67).
The Huskies have been featured individually on the TDS website throughout the season, with Alvarez ranked No. 4 in the TDS preseason rankings, followed by Blake (18) and Diouf (38).
The midseason rankings came out with all three Huskies earning a spot once again. Blake moved up to No. 4, followed by Alvarez (6) and Diouf (26).
The final rankings mark the first time Sanchez has been featured by Topdrawersoccer.com. Sanchez, a two-year captain that moved to center back as a senior following three years in the UConn midfield, earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors this past season. A 2009 BIG EAST All-Rookie selection, Sanchez was tabbed All-BIG EAST Third Team in 2010 and 2011. Sanchez had his senior season cut short when he suffered a broken leg diving to score a goal at Marquette on October 6.
