Cortright Leads The Way At BIG EAST Diving

LOUISVILLE, Kent. - University of Connecticut sophomore Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished in fourth place in the one-meter diving and in sixth place in the three-meter diving at the BIG EAST Championships over the course of Friday and Saturday. The BIG EAST holds the diving portion of its swimming and diving championship this weekend while the swimming takes place next weekend.

On the men's side, sophomore Anthony Cortright (Wallingford, Conn.) was seventh in the one-meter consolations with 233.70 points as he was 15th in the preliminaries while senior Adam Genuario (Norwalk, Conn.) was 17th. Cortright was fifth in the three-meter consolations with 238.50 points and was 14th in the trials while Genuario was 17th. The diving portion concludes on Sunday with platform diving.

Cecco finished sixth in the three meters with a score of 302.55 and was fourth in the one-meter at 276.00. Cecco was seventh in the preliminaries for the three-meter and fourth in the preliminaries for the one-meter. Also in the one-meter trials, sophomore Nicole Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) was 22nd and junior Kelly McCauley (Cortland Manner, N.Y.) was 23rd. McCauley was eight in the three-meter consolation with 231.45 points and was 11th in the preliminaries. Senior Jessica Hovancik (Valatie, N.Y). was 15th in the three-meter preliminaries while Boriello was 25th and McCaulley was 15th.
