PITTSBURGH - The men's divers of the University of Connecticut enjoyed an outstanding Saturday as the BIG EAST Championship. UConn placed three divers in the top 10 of the one-meter event as senior Stephen Ferreira (Madison, Conn.) was fourth with 315.30 points while freshman Grant Fecteau (Delmar, N.Y.) was eighth with 258.30 points and sophomore Brad Schott (Wilton, Conn.) was tenth with 271.50 points.
Wes Villaflor of Notre Dame won the event with 347.00 points.
In the preliminaries, Ferreira was fifth followed by Fecteau in sixth, Schott in tenth and junior Adam Genuario in 18th at 202.90 points.
On the women's side, the preliminaries and the finals for the three-meters were held. Freshman Nicole Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) was tenth in the preliminaires with 242.40 points while sophomore Kelly McCaulley (Cortland Manor, N.Y.) was 13th with 222.80 points and freshman Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) was 15th at 221.75.
In the finals, McCaulley finished second in the consolations with 262.10 points, while Cecco was third in 261.75 and Borriello was fourth with 258.90.
The diving portion of the championships conclude on Sunday while the swimming takes place next weekend.
