INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Connecticut men's swimming and diving team is in fourth place of nine teams after Friday's day of competition. The event concludes on Saturday.
UConn has 301.5 points while Notre Dame leads the competition. UConn was led on Friday by an impressive showing in the three-meter dive as freshman John Brice (Bala Cynwood, Pa.) finished in third place with 328.35 points to earn All-BIG EAST honors. Senior Grant Fecteau (Delmar, N.Y.) finished fourth in the event with 326.45 points.
Sophomore Sawyer Franz (Pine, Colo.) also earned All-BIG EAST honors by finishing second in the 400-yard IM in a time of 3:49.76. Sophomore Lachezar Shumkov (Sofia, Bulgaria) won the B Final in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 55.17 seconds.
The UConn 400-meter relay team was fourth in a time of 3:19.73. That team consisted of freshman Jeff Magin (Brookfield, Conn.), freshman Diguan Pigot (Miami, Fla.), junior Sean Battle (Allison Park, Pa.) and junior Justyn Alexandre (Wallingford, Conn.)
