STORRS, Connecticut (October 31, 2009) - The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted a dual meet against Rutgers and Villanova on Friday and Saturday. In women's action, Rutgers topped Connecticut 199-155, UConn beat Villanova 182-171 and Rutgers beat Villanova 193-150. In men's action, UConn beat Villanova 237-107.
Several individual stood out the UConn men over the two day-event. Sophomor Bradley Schott (Wilton, Conn.) wo nthe one-meter diving competition with 316.10 points.
Senior John Hogan (Walkersville, Md.) won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:41.73 and also was part of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team and the 200-yard medley relay team.
Freshman Kyungsoo Yoon (Toronto, Ont.) won teh 100-yard butterfly in 51.81 seconds and was part of the 400-yard frestyle relay team. Junior Alex Davidson (Pointe-Claire, Que.) won the 100-yard backstroke in 51.92 seconds and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team.
Sophomore Jon Wong (Toronto, Ont.) won the 100-yard freesytle in 47.79 seconds and was part of both winning relay teams. Junior Tomacz Sobek (Siemianowice Slaskie, Poland) won the 200-yard breaststroke and was on the 200-yard medley relay team.
Sophomore Mitch Dansky (Winchendon, Mass.) won the 400-yard IM in 4:09.90.
Both UConn teams are in action next Saturday when they travel to Army for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
