Men's and Women's Swimming And Diving Both Post Wins Over Army

STORRS, Conn. (November 8, 2008) - The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming and diving teams both posted wins over Army on Saturday. The men's team improved its record to 3-0 on the season with a 178-122 win while the women improved to 3-1 with a 179-106 victory.

Senior Jules Alexandre (Wallingford, Conn.) had the best day of his career to lead the men's team as he won the 50-yard (21.63) and 100-yard (47.30) freestyle races and also led off the winning 400-yard free relay team.

Seniors Adrian Astiz (Rockville, Md.) and John Henry Dasinger (Madison, Miss.) finished 1-2 in the 200-yard butterfly as Astiz won in 1:52.47 and Dasinger was second in 1:55.34. They also finished in the same order in the 100-yard butterfly with Astiz in 50.44 and Dasinger in 50.89. Astiz also won the 200-yard IM in 1:56.22.

The women's team was led by senior Kristalynn Kempton (Glen Head, N.Y.) with wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.29) and 500-yard freestyle (5:09.75). Freshman Anna Drinka (San Antonio, Texas) won the 100-yard butterfly in 58.97 seconds in an impressive race.

Both teams return to action on Nov. 20-22 when they travel to College Park, Md., for the Terrapin Cup.
