Men's Swimming And Diving Tops Penn While Women Lose

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Connecticut men's swimming and diving team posted a 175-125 victory over the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday while the women's team fell to the Quakers by a 171.5 to 126.5 score. The UConn men are 4-0 on the season while the women's team is 3-2.

The UConn men were led by sophomore Kyungsoo Yoon (Toronto, Ont.) as he won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.09 seconds, the 100-yard freestyle in 47.28 seconds and was part the winning 400-yard free relay team and the second place 200-yard medley relay team.

Sophomore Jeremy Ramshaw (Mississauga, Ont.) won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:52.32 and the 200-yard IM in 1:53.92. He also was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that won and was second in the in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.0.

Junior Nick Majtenyi (St. Catherines, Ont.) had a critical win the 500-yard freestyle in 4:45.51.

On the women's side, junior Caitlin Gallagher (Lawrence, Kansas) was first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.80, the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:20.44 and thee 200-yard IM in 2:07.82. She was also part of the winning 200-yard medley relay.

Sophomore Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) won the one-meter diving with 264.83 points while she won the three-meter event with 282.15 points.

The Huskies return to action next Thursday-Saturday when they travel to the Terrapin Cup at the University of Maryland.
